Let’s fix eThekwini together.

Residents before politics
Five conditions for governing eThekwini.
When he accepted the nomination, Mncwango presented a 10-point plan to fix eThekwini. He set its first five commitments as ActionSA's non-negotiable conditions for joining any coalition government, because they put residents ahead of politics.
Restore basic services
Insource essential municipal services
Restore financial discipline and end corruption
Restore law and order
Build a growing, clean and responsive city
The 2021 local government election result that nobody talks about
The biggest party in eThekwini is currently the couch or sofa and that needs to change.
More people stayed home than voted for every party combined.
1 133 110 people did not vote in the last local government elections in 2021. 776 015 people did vote and this was split across every party on the ballot. The stay at home total of people not voting beats the entire voting total by 357 095. Whoever wins the couch or sofa wins this city. That is not spin but is the actual arithmetic of what the outcome was.
Source: IEC 2021 local government election final ward results, summed across the 111 wards contested in 2021 (ward 112 is newly demarcated for 2026). Calculation: 776 015 ÷ 1 909 125 = 40,65% turnout; 1 909 125 − 776 015 = 1 133 110 did not vote (59,35%); 1 133 110 − 776 015 = 357 095.
The maths that keeps it red
A few decided. The rest stayed home.
In 2021, 59% of eThekwini voters did not vote. Every dry tap, every blackout and every hole in the road happened under a council chosen by a minority.
